Thankful For TBA

Stop the tricks - Halloween IS over afterall - an email from Tamara? Does that say what I think it says?  Is that REALLY an invitation to be a TBA author? W.O.W.  I can't believe this amazing opportunity came to MY inbox.
To be in such expert company is at once humbling and exhilarating.  I have spent the last six months in A.W.E. of all of the incredible bloggers in this cyberspace collaborative. So thank you, Tamara and Leslie, for including me on this journey!
For as long as I can remember, writing has been a SPARK for me, but, until I discovered Linky Land, I didn't have much of a platform for my words. And I. LOVE. WORDS!, so you can imagine my delight when I realized I could write 'til my heart's content on my blog.
So who am I? My name is Barbara and I'm a farmer's daughter from Wisconsin. In my 27th year as an educator, I work in Friendswood,Texas, where I live with my husband of 20 years and our two teenaged boys; our daughter is a freshman at the University of Texas. Hook 'em Horns!  I am also a lifelong learner. When I'm not working or writing, I love to knit, bake, read, relax by my pool, and hang out with my family.
While I've always been a teacher (even before I got my degree!), I no longer have my own classroom because I've worked as a school counselor for the past 15 years.  As such, the Corner on Character has a slightly different flavor because it was designed to showcase inspirational people and elevating experiences that make this word a better place.  I hope that you'll stop by for a visit whenever you want or need some motivation, an uplifting word, an inspirational idea, an engaging activity or a heartwarming story.  Today's post is a lip dub that Magnolia High School just down the road from me did last spring. Pay special attention to how the newbie in the video is feeling ‘cause that's ME right now!
