Can you READ his THOUGHTS?
I try to teach my kids that Readers are Thinkers,
and the thought process of a reader before, during and after they read!
We made Thought Bubbles!
We have 6 bubbles we work with:
Before Reading Strategies, During Reading Strategies, After Reading Strategies,
Making Connections, Non-Fiction Elements, and Fiction Elements.
As we practice these strategies I ask for a student volunteer
(you wouldn't believe their excitement to participate)
to come up and be my "thinker".
We dramatize the whole thing and I applaud the volunteer for being so "thoughtful"!
This activity helps the students and walk them through the thinking about reading process!
Works fab. for whole & small groups!
