Math (and Some Writing) Because of Babies

Today I posted about an activity I do at the beginning of most of my long-term sub jobs since they have all been for teachers on maternity leave. I turn the birth announcement into a baby math and writing activity... and the teachers always love it!

I bring actual examples of the size of the baby and we have a discussion on that. Then the students get to make cards for the baby "offering it advice." The results are that the students feel more connected to their absent teacher; and the teacher feels like she is missed and has some very touching keepsakes for the baby book.
