I love teaching kids sight words and, in my experience, they love learning them! Once a child knows even 5 or 10 sight words, they can attack some basic books and begin to feel like real readers. Watching their confidence soar is amazing! ("Cat In The Hat" is a classic first book for kids, since it's stocked with sight words.) I just added a set of first grade Dolch sight word flashcards to my website!
If you're using these in a classroom, I suggest printing them on card stock so they are a little sturdier. Or you can print one set for each child in which case regular paper is probably fine. Enjoy!
