Did you know that Daylight Savings Time is this Sunday? It is hard to believe that it is time to spring forward. DST is the practice of advancing clocks forward so that there is more daylight in the afternoon hours. I love this time of year. Spring is a time of new beginnings and signs of life are everywhere. I feel alive when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining. The first sign of spring makes me want to kick off my shoes and walk in the grass barefoot and makes me long for days that I can kneel down close to the Earth and plant a seed. Just like when I was a child, I still believe it is a true miracle when something grows... As an adult, I realize these miracles just take time.
When I came home from school on Friday I was so thankful to have some time off after a busy week. I kicked off my shoes and sat down to the computer and began catching up on my blog reading. I came across a post from Little Miss Glamour Goes To Kindergarten. I read the post and then had to go back and read it again. At first, I didn't think I had enough time to go back and reread the post. But the post spoke to me on so many levels as a wife, a mother, a teacher, a friend, a daughter so I went back and took the time to read it again and let it all soak in. Vivid images of myself juggling life day to day began to creep into my head.I wondered did I take the time to appreciate the wonderful things in my own life? Am I living up to my own resolution to balance my time better?
As if the images were not cute enough, it is truly her words that made me sit and think. We never can recapture time. Am I using my own time wisely? And after a few moments I decided to take a time out and prioritize a few things in my head. I love the way she decided to rewrite the story and add a little balance into the mix. And when we have better balance we seem to have more time.
So as I began my week I decided to take more...time. More time to help those who need it. More time to say those little things that need to be said. More time for I Love You and Thanks. More time for listening and listening well. More time for reflecting, remembering and thinking. More time to help when needed. And more time for the big and little people in my life. And what I began to realize is simple... when I take time out of my day for these precious things...it makes the rest of my time seem so worthwhile.
I encourage you to go and read the post from Little Miss Galmour. I think she has this time thing just about figured out!
