Common Core Standards With Pete the Cat Freebies

Has your school converted entirely to the Common Core Standards yet?  We have slowly, but surely, began matching up our current standards with the "new" Common Core Standards.  What we have found is that, for the most part, we have been on the right track. However, there are some standards that will be a new focus in my kindergarten classroom, so I have feverishly been creating lessons and activities that will help my students meet those standards in a fun and engaging way.  One thing I think about when I create activities for my students is what is interesting to them or what will grab their attention.
One character who has been a core part of our classroom since the very first day of school is Pete the Cat.  Coupled with the release of Eric Litwin's brand new book in May entitled, Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons, and my students' high interest in Pete the Cat, I decided that subtracting and adding fluently within 5 could easily be accomplished.
I created some activities that will help teachers easily target this CCS (as well as others) AND keep your students engaged while doing so.  I have decided to give some of them away FREE to my readers, so head on over to Mrs. Miner's Monkey Business to check them out!
