Do you use counting frames (Rekenreks) or ten frame cards to help you teach basic operations and number recognition? Well if you're not, you should look into it. If you already use them, you may get a few ideas from my
post on the subject. My students love the counting frame and it is the go to tool for most of them. They prefer it over the number line, hundred board or any other manipulatives like snapping cubes and counters. We have used them for recognizing what numbers "look like", adding, subtracting and finding missing numbers in an equation. You can read all about it on my
post here and also get a free mini-pack of questions, prompts and recording sheets to use along with the counting frames.
