Are you already thinking about Earth Day activities for your students? Although we stress that "Earth Day is EVERY day", on April 22nd, my class will devote the entire day to celebrating our planet.
I created an Earth Day Report Card activity to use this Earth Day (why should teachers have all the *fun* writing report cards?). Three different report cards are included - one for the whole school, one for the classroom, and one for the home. Students give a rating for each of the criteria listed on the report card. When they have finished writing the report card, they choose one area which received a poor rating, and complete an activity sheet illustrating and creating their plan for improvement. Students could use the finished report cards to analyse data for a graphing activity, complete persuasive writing, make a bulletin board for the school ... the possibilities are endless.
