Interrupting Chicken {ie. hush!}

Have you ever had one of those {teacher!} days where you can't {I'm fin-ished!} complete a single thought?

Yeah, I thought so.  Me too.

Then we read Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein.  It's about a dad trying to put his cute little kid to bed but he can't get through his bedtime story without little chicken interrupting!
The story is a fun read with cute pictures.  You could use it as a springboard for starting a fairy tale unit or in retelling familiar stories.  OR you could use it as a writing model for students to change the end of a fairy tale by inserting themselves as characters.  OR you could use it as a class meeting topic, character ed lesson or end of the year sanity-maker.

We kind of did a combination of the two.  Come on over to see how my kids reacted to seeing interruptions happening...and how they could relate personally.  It's actually made a difference in some {Oooh! Ooooh!} calling out.  ;)
