That's what I said when I saw who was coming to my county to speak about literacy.
After a little research, I discovered that Lester Laminack was someone I needed to hear.
I was extremely glad I did! He has a GREAT sense of humor and is hilarius, especially if you speak the language, sarcastic.
He had a lot of real and common sense things to say about how we teach and assess spelling.
"We need to be studying spelling as a language, not a stimulus response system. Spelling has to be broader than for a test on Friday."
