Popular Popcorn Word Post (and some freebies)

In honor of TBA's birthday, I am sharing one of my most popular posts.  Who knew that popcorn could be so popular?  Well, this isn't about eating popcorn, it's about learning the ins and outs of high frequency words and getting them to "pop" right out of our mouths or "pop" right onto the paper we are writing on.  Since high frequency words "pop" up everywhere, we call them popcorn words.  So much more fun than sight words or high frequency words, right?
In my classroom, we start learning the popcorn words at the very beginning of the year and then, all of a sudden, they are popping out at the kids everywhere they go.  Research has proven that children learn in chunks more easily than individual items, so, even the children who don't have control of their letters yet find it fascinating to unveil all of these "popcorn words" (which consequently allows them to learn new letters as well!).
