When the Lightbulb Goes On!

LOVE  it when the lightbulb goes on, don't you?
I am always looking for ways to make math both fun and effective. Using manipulatives can really help a child SEE things in a different way.  This is exactly what happened when I introduced a new teaching tool with our math this week.

Here is the Common Core Standard that I have been focusing on:
Operations and Algebraic Thinking:
1. Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds, acting out situations, verbal expressions, expressions, or equations.

I recently received a Number Balance and it has proved to be a HUGE success with our Graph the Math Sheets!   What I really liked about this experience was that I could literally SEE the thought process at work.

Hop on over to The Moffatt Girls blog to see and read more about our "lightbulb" experience:)
We have some other exciting stuff going on, so be sure to stop by:)
