I've created Three Little Pig characters for fun and for you to have for free! I often expect my kinders to use favorite stories as inspiration when doing writer's workshop. In fact, we even do a unit to stretch the pure amount of writing they can do by modeling a different version of our favorite stories!
Some of my favorite titles from this year were, "Who Took My Backpack from the Closet?" which was styled after Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?, and "Big Seaweed" which was modeled after Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman. My kinders used their knowledge of these stories which we can practically quote by heart and altered the setting and characters. I am so proud of how much they show themselves they are capable of writing and it really broke them out of their, "I like...," "I can.." kind of pattern sentences. Now, I'm not saying anything bad about that kind of sentence (because we all know we wait to celebrate that one the gets there by the last day of school) but its neat to see the majority of my kinders grow out of it and begin to truly write!
My inspiration came in the form of drawing some different-version characters of my own. So, instead of your typical three little pigs - these girls are moving into town.
The first little pig met a man with a bundle of hay and said,
"Please give me that hay to build me a house."
The man did, and she built her snug studio with them.
The second little pig met a man with a bundle of sticks and said,
"Please give me those sticks to build me a house."
The man did, and she built her cozy wooded cottage with them.
The third little pig met a man with a truckload of bricks and said,
"Please give me those bricks to build me a house."
The man did, and she toiled to create her blessed bungalow with them.
You can use these! Just right click and save the png (transparent background images) files. A link back to KindergartenWorks would be much appreciated, but isn't necessary. Hope you can have some fun creating with these!
