I find that when I teach using Graphic Organizers, the kids respond so much deeper and are far more interested in what is going on. Using any sort of foldable or paper with text boxes immediately peaks the interest of my most reluctant learners. This is especially true when looking at our reading material.
These past few weeks I was able to really dig into my non-fiction section of the reading series using Laura Candler's Graphic Organizers for Reading: Teaching Tools Aligned with the Common Core. The organizers in this book really came in handy for what I was trying to accomplish with my students. Not only that, but they were they kind of organizers you can use without actually making any copies!!!
Come on over to my blog to see how I have used some of my favorite organizers from the book. You will pick up some ideas to use in your classroom this fall. Also, while you are there, enter yourself to win a free copy of the book yourself!
