Playdough Word Work in Kindergarten

We love using playdough in our classroom to practice some foundational skills. Oh yes, you heard that right. Playdough can indeed be a tool, just as simply as magnetic letters, to practice beginning, medial and ending sounds, building CVC words, and more!

Did I mention you can practice sight words? I've been using playdough in my literacy centers and my kinders L-O-V-E it! I love it too since it is so hands-on {literally} and meets our Common Core standards!

Both help meet:
  • K.RF.1 - Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print.
  • K.RF.2 - Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
  • K.RF.3 - Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
We just released our latest Word Work pack that helps extend the learning that we previously mastered. We became letter formation experts, rhyming masters and developed a good sense of blending onsets and rimes. Now, we can take our learning even further with 88 more sight words and lots of word building and manipulating practice.

I invite you to see some snapshots from this new product and find out how to get your hands on l-e-a-r-n-i-n-g!
