Creating a Cute Classroom with a Theme

Have you been sneaking into your classroom like I have to secretly set it up?   At our school they discourage us from going in during the summer month of July in order to save  money.  However, knowing that I was going to be out of town from July 27th until August 13th, I knew I had to get my room together.  We start inservice days on August 16th and the kids return on the 20th.

This year I needed a change with the overall look and function of my classroom.  Our school was reorganized and now we're only a K-3 school.  With that I gained 2 more Kindergarten teaching partners and a new principal.  For the past two years my room was decorated in primary colors with a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom theme  I kept a few of my chicka decorations, but the color scheme changed.  I've always been a fan of black and red, not sure if it was because those were my high school colors or that I just think they are a great color combination.  To make it a little more cutesy and kid friendly, I threw in some white polka dots too.  If you want to see how I used the polka dot theme in red, black and white to tie all my little classroom elements together come on by.  While you are there, look for the freebie in my post.
