The Place Value Game
I don't know about you, but I find that my students just respond better to math when we play a game. I am always trying to come up with a way to get a concept to sink in by putting it into game form. Such was the case when I was teaching place value to the thousandths last week.
I really wanted to have my groups play some sort of game. However, creating one takes a lot of thought. Thought I just didn't want to exert. So, I went into my trusty old Marilyn Burns book and viola, the perfect game popped out. The Place Value Game.
This really is a super simple game that the kids in my room just LOVED. Come on over to read all about how I adapted Ms. Burns' game to suit my classroom. It may just spark something for you too!
